Home and Away Spoilers – Mia finally gets closure over Ari

Mia finds closure by leaving Summer Bay for New Zealand next week on Home and Away in the UK, while Roo is keen to prove Martha’s doctor wrong…

Mia Anderson (Anna Samson) believes it’s time for a fresh start away from Summer Bay after experiencing heartbreak after heartbreak in recent months, but a substantial gift from her family will carry her further than she’d imagined!

Mia and her daughter Chloe (Sam Barrett) have been struggling since the death of Mia’s husband Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams), who was incarcerated at the time after falsely confessing to the murder of Chloe’s biological father Matthew (James Sweeny), a crime that was actually perpetrated by Chloe.

Chloe has been avoiding her mother at all costs, unable to cope with seeing her in such anguish in the aftermath of Ari’s death, and as a result, she has developed an obsession with her friend Bella (Courtney Miller).

After weeks of deceiving Bella and her boyfriend Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo), they finally saw through Chloe’s lies, and Bella finally stood firm.

It was the impetus Chloe needed to return home to Mia, who quickly made the decision that she and Chloe should both leave Summer Bay.

When Chloe found out about Mia’s plan, she was furious—while Mia can’t take being in town since everything reminds her of Ari, Chloe found solace in it.

Mia eventually consented to stay, and the two have been spending more time together in an effort to mend their broken relationship. This time, though, it was Chloe who felt suffocated by Mia’s persistent presence. Mia had only stayed in Summer Bay for her benefit, thus it was tough for her to urge her to leave.

When Mia mentioned making preparations for the two of them to visit Ari’s family, Chloe lost her cool and stormed off. Chloe acknowledged to Mia later that evening that, while she loved her, she couldn’t be around her any longer.

Mia was heartbroken when she told Tane (Ethan Browne) that Chloe was abandoning her.

Tane urged that Mia stick to her initial intention of leaving Summer Bay, recognizing that staying would only cause her more sorrow.

Mia can’t believe Tane would suggest she go without Chloe, especially when she’s at her most vulnerable, as we take up the action this week, but Tane assures her that he would look after her.

Mia quickly realises that the only way she can progress is to leave town.

When Chloe says she’ll be looking for a new place to live, Mia says she won’t need to because she’ll be leaving Summer Bay—though she has no clue where she’ll go.

Mia understands that putting some distance between herself and Chloe will allow them to heal.

Mia is taken aback when Chloe and Tane give her with plane tickets to New Zealand after she comes up with an idea. Ari’s family and Nik’s mother Gemma (Bree Peters) are waiting for her and will look after her. Perhaps visiting the gravesite of Ari will provide Mia with the closure she seeks.

As a farewell, the family throws a pizza party, with Bella, Felicity (Jacqui Purvis), and John (Shane Withington) all joining in to commemorate Mia’s last night in the bay.

While anticipating her trip, Mia takes a moment to reflect on the previous months. Tane tells Mia that Ari would be proud of her, and she then gives over the paperwork transferring ownership of the gym to Tane alone.

The next morning, Chloe and Mia spend some time on the beach together, talking about how Summer Bay brought Ari and Mia back together after such a long time apart, with Mia stating that she has no regrets.

Later, the time finally comes for everyone to gather to bid Mia farewell.

Both Chloe and Mia wish each other well and bid each other farewell as Tane drives Mia out of Summer Bay for good.

In Summer Bay, Roo is determined to prove the doctors wrong after learning that her mother Martha (Belinda Giblin) is no longer strong enough to undergo a lifesaving kidney transplant.

Roo had offered to give one of her own kidneys earlier this year, but Martha had backed out at the last minute, not wanting to expose her daughter to the risk of developing her own health problems. For a few months, the choice caused friction between Martha and her daughter, but after returning to Summer Bay two weeks ago, Martha disclosed that she was glad to go forwards after all.

The family was overjoyed until Logan (Harley Bonner) informed them that Martha’s high blood pressure had caused fluid to build up around her lungs, and she might never be fit enough for the surgery.

Following Marilyn’s (Emily Symons) remark on how retaining a positive mindset might affect one’s health, Roo wondered if she had a point, and began her research.

When Roo revealed her idea to start Martha on a positive programme in the hopes of lowering her blood pressure, Alf (Ray Meagher) was sceptical, but Roo eventually persuaded him.

They seek guidance from Logan, who, while encouraging, warns them that it won’t be easy. For Martha to be fit enough for surgery, her heart function would have to improve by 20%, and she would need medical care. Alf wonders if they’re just playing with Martha’s emotions.

When Martha gets home, she is all for the plan, which consists primarily of healthy eating and light exercise combined with relaxation.

They begin with a meditation session in the living room that evening, and while Alf is clearly sceptical, Martha appears to be having a good time.

The next morning, Martha is upbeat as she goes on a stroll with Roo and Marilyn.

Alf is concerned that Roo is putting too much pressure on Martha, but Marilyn points out how much fun Martha is having.

“When did you last hear her laugh as much as she did last night?” Marilyn asks. “Surely that can’t be a bad thing….”

Will Roo’s plan work after all?
