Former Home and Away star Christie Hayes has opened up about her ‘devastating’ IVF battle with her husband Justin Coombes-Pearce.
The radio host was discussing Victorian Premier Dan Andrews’ decision to start a free, public IVF service in Victoria.
On her radio programme Dan and Christie on Hit100.9, the former actress opened up about how challenging the Justin IVF process had been.
“For us, the struggle was with the money. She complained to co-host Dan Taylor, “It’s too pricey. We began our first IVF round when we didn’t have much money. We were doing IVF at the time on a single income.
“You simply walk in there with an open mind, and it’s clear that you’re willing to give everything you’ve got. But there’s just so much you can do, like with God,” she said.
The actress from Neighbours said that persons with fertility problems might have particular deadlines they need to follow in order to give themselves the best chance of conceiving.
“You risk losing your window if you try to save money for too long. IVF is a tremendously expensive, precise procedure, and it’s extremely difficult emotionally, she said.
The actress is situated in Hobart, a city that doesn’t currently provide free IVF to anyone who are having trouble becoming pregnant.
Christie revealed that her first attempt at IVF with Justin had failed, which was a devastating setback.
She said, “I was sad and Justin was too. “We did everything, even paying for the egg retrieval and carrying out all necessary tasks, but nothing worked.
And we were lost, but we eventually realised that we needed to try again.
The Blue Water High actor hopes that Victoria’s decision to offer free IVF to locals would draw attention to the problem in other states.
With her third husband Justin, Christie hopes to add to her current two sons with her ex-husband Daniel White.
She shot to fame as Kirsty Sutherland on Home and Away, starting the role at age 13. She played the character from 2000 to 2005 and returned to Summer Bay from 2008 to 2009.
Christie’s character was popular with viewers and the star admits that she would consider coming back for a stint.
She told Digital Spy, “If the opportunity came up, I definitely wouldn’t say no.” “I want to accomplish a lot in my profession. Over the next few of years, I’d like to concentrate on comedy since I truly enjoy it.
“But I would, without a doubt. Certainly, if they wanted me to.
