Kelly Monaco Calls Her GH Departure “Illogical”

With Kelly Monaco’s time at General Hospital nearing its end, the actress is experiencing many final moments. On Sept. 27, her mother announced that she had taped her last scenes, and on Oct. 6, the actress shared a photo of herself with co-stars Kate Mansi (Kristina), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), and Kristen Vaganos (Molly) on Instagram.

She captioned the photo, “Final scene with the Davis Girls,” along with kiss, crying, and praying hands emojis. “It still doesn’t make any sense to me.”

The news that Monaco was being written out of GH broke back on Aug. 26, and fans very quickly rallied to show their support, drafting petitions, renting billboards, and flooding social media to get hashtags like “#IStandWithKelly” trending. Sadly, it would seem their efforts have been in vain.

Monaco joined the cast of GH in 2003 as Sam McCall, a role created for her. In 2006, it was revealed that she is Alexis’ daughter, officially making her a Davis Girl. Despite the fact that the roles of Kristina and Molly have been recast numerous times over the years, any actress portraying the character is still regarded as part of the family.

In the comments on Monaco’s post, Grahn shared a quote from Albert Einstein that stated, “In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.” She also expressed her unwavering support, saying, “I love you. All will be well. There are some things a TV mother just knows.”

Nicolas Bechtel, who previously played Spencer on the soap, chimed in with “Only one Sam” and called her a “Legend.” Cosette Abinante, who plays Monaco’s TV daughter, Scout, shared: “Miss you already” with a crying emoji.

Stay tuned to GH to see how Sam exits the canvas and if there’s any possibility of a return in the future.
