After a decade away, Steven Lars Webber is making his return to General Hospital! Actor Scott Reeves was surprised when executive producer Frank Valentini reached out to him about reprising the role, but he was quick to accept the opportunity.
“It’s interesting because I’ve kept in touch with Frank over the years, and I often joked with him, asking if there was any chance of a parole hearing for Steve,” Reeves shared. “When he finally called to say that Steve had been released on parole and shared the storyline concept, I was thrilled. I exclaimed, ‘Oh my gosh, Frank, that sounds fantastic! I’d love to come back!’ I was back on the GH studio lot within a month.”
While Scott Reeves occasionally chats with Michael Saucedo (ex-Juan), he chose not to inform his wife, Rebecca Herbst (Liz), about his return to make their reunion even more special.
“It truly felt like getting out of prison after 10 years and seeing my sister!” Reeves shared with a laugh. “I swear, it was like no time had passed — 10 years went by, but it felt like no time at all! It was such a blast. It was reminiscent of those epic movie moments where you run into someone you haven’t seen in ages; we embraced and had so much to catch up on.”
While Reeves kept the details of his upcoming storyline under wraps, it’s likely to be connected to his mother, Heather Webber, who is also being released from prison. Although he was excited to return to Port Charles, his character, Steve, has mixed feelings. “He was looking forward to it but also dreading it a little bit because he had no idea what to expect upon his return,” he hinted. “Is he going to run into Olivia? Port Charles is a small town! Just walking back into the hospital’s hub felt surreal for Steve, especially since he lost his medical license.”
