Home and Away Finale 2024: Nicholas Cartwright Teases Dramatic Showdown and Potential Tragedy for Cash

Home and Away is gearing up for an epic finale week, culminating in an action-packed movie-length episode on November 20.

What transpires will have deadly consequences for one character, and leave another fan favourite with blood on their hands.

Nicholas Cartwright, who plays Summer Bay’s resident policeman Cash, is at the centre of what unfolds. And while we can’t tell you too much about what’s about to happen, it’s not looking good for his character.

“It all takes a really quick turn during the end of the episode, and it gets quite brutal,” said the star, who has been on Home and Away for over four years.

“It’s a wonderful ending to the season — really good.

“Fans are going to love it.”

Cartwright is no stranger to a nail-biting season finale. “I’ve been a pretty lucky guy — I think I’ve been in all of them since I arrived,” he said.

“I play a police officer, obviously — so it’s kind of hard to do one without my character.”

Finale week kicks off on November 18 with the band members of Lyrik — Remi (Adam Rowland), Eden (Stephanie Panozzo), Kirby (Angelina Thomson) and Theo (Matt Evans) — heading to a

remote estate for a rehearsal getaway.

Tagging along is Eden’s boyfriend Tim (George Pullar), but Cash has been spiralling in recent weeks and has become obsessed with the idea that her new man is not such a great guy.

He follows Eden to the island retreat.

“The climax of the story revolves around Cash turning up to Eden’s band rehearsal, uninvited, to have a conversation with her about the Tim situation,” Cartwright said.

“Whilst we can’t say exactly what happens, (two characters) end up soaked in blood.”

While all this plays out, another parallel storyline involving Harper (Jessica Redmayne) and her unborn baby is playing out.

Emotions are running high after an ultrasound picks up a complication and Tane (Ethan Browne) and Harper are faced with an agonising choice — wait and hope the issue rectifies itself, or have Harper undergo risky in-utero surgery.

Harper fears her unborn baby may not survive, but by not having the surgery she is endangering her own life.

Will she go through with it?

“Whilst you’ve got one group of actors covered in blood, we’ve got another group of actors, dealing with big decisions,” Cartwright said.

“I think it’s going to be a really beautiful episode — actually, there’s a lot of really nice stories that are all coming to a peak at once.”
