A current Home and Away star has revealed an unexpected connection to a chaotic yet iconic Neighbours storyline, sharing that she once appeared in the rival soap—but in a very subtle role.
Jessica Redmayne, who portrays Harper Matheson on Home and Away, disclosed on her Instagram Stories that she had worked as the body double for Neighbours character Andrea Somers. If that name doesn’t immediately sound familiar, the name Dee Bliss (played by Madeleine West) certainly might. Dee was a legendary character from the 2000s on Neighbours, known for her tragic demise on her wedding day when Toadie accidentally drove their car off a cliff and into the ocean. Classic soap drama.
But what’s the link between Andrea and Dee? Madeleine West returned to Neighbours in 2016, initially reintroduced as Dee, seemingly back from the dead. However, the twist revealed she was actually Andrea Somers, a con artist impersonating Dee to pull off a money scam.
In this already intricate storyline, Jessica Redmayne stepped in as Madeleine West’s body double during scenes where Madeleine played Andrea, not Dee. Jessica recently shared a nostalgic photo on her Instagram Story, giving fans a glimpse into her role from five years ago.
Jessica’s stroll down memory lane was to commemorate that she’s now playing a lead character on a show and now needs her own body double, due to Harper’s pregnancy storyline, which she posted in her next snap.
