Home and Away fans, rejoice! The beloved show returns tonight at 7 pm, picking up right where last year’s intense cliffhanger left us—with Cash in a dazed state and caught, quite literally, red-handed beside an unconscious Tim. What really happened? Tonight, we might finally get some answers.

The dramatic 2024 finale lived up to its promise of “bloodshed” and “deadly consequences,” delivering a nail-biting conclusion in the last five minutes of the 90-minute special. Two lives hung in the balance—Harper’s baby and Tim, the enigmatic psychologist. The story resumes on January 13, with Justin stumbling upon Cash at the scene of what appears to be a brutal crime. Tim is lying unresponsive, covered in blood, while Cash, visibly shaken, seems to be in shock.
Earlier, Cash had rushed to warn Tim and Eden that Tim’s former client, Nerida, was on a rampage. However, the last thing we saw was Cash and Tim in a heated argument—then suddenly, Cash waking up with blood on his hands.

Will Tim live on Home and Away?
Fans have been speculating in a Home and Away group for weeks that Tim is already dead and that Cash will be (most likely wrongfully) arrested for his murder, but one fan has come through with a new theory, after picking up something quite telling in the promo.
“Just in reference to the conversation regarding Tim dying. It mustn’t be tonight because in the promo, Cash is arrested for assault which would mean, that at this point, Tim is still alive,” they said. “I know his character was only a guest role but at least he’s found alive.”
Some are still convinced Tim won’t make it, with someone saying, “he most likely does die still”.
Regardless of what happens to poor Tim, fans are thrilled the show is coming back tonight. “Just rewatched last long ep from last year! Bring it on!” one person commented. “I go crazy with no Home and Away,” another fan said, with someone else calling it their “lifeline”.
Nicholas Cartwright hints at Cash’s future on Home and Away: ‘I worry sometimes’
If you’ve been an avid Home and Away fan for some time, you know that Cash has had his fair share of drama since entering the Bay in 2021 — from work woes, to relationship drama, to losing his sister Flick. And really, that was all just in the last year.
Actor Nicholas Cartwright recently gave an interview to TV Week about his role, saying it’s been a “fantastic” character arc.
“Cash takes hit after hit,” he told the publication. “It’s been a fantastic arc. I quite enjoy playing out a variety of different issues as Cash.”
Nicholas went on to say despite the drama of Cash’s life, he doesn’t find him “difficult” to play. “There are definite challenges, but I’ve put a lot of work into creating Cash over the years. I leave it all out in the studio.”
“I worry sometimes the audience is going to get exhausted of them continuing to flog the one character!” Nicholas joked.
