EastEnders actress Harriet Thorpe, who plays Elaine Knight, has spoken out about her character’s future as her marriage to George Knight hits the rocks amid his reunion with ex-wife Cindy Beale
EastEnders star Harriet Thrope has revealed all on Elaine Knight’s tumultuous times ahead as her marriage to George Knight is on shaky ground.
George (played by Colin Salmon) has been increasingly cosy with his ex, Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), leaving Elaine seeing red.
The Walford gang, including Kim Fox (Tameka Empson), Mo Harris (Laila Morse), Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy), Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton), and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) all pitch in when Elaine throws a wild bash at the Queen Vic.
As the evening descends into chaos, an impulsive Elaine stuns Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) with her Prosecco-on-the-house declaration.
Amid the revelry, Phil Mitchell and Nigel Bates drop by for a pint and Phil clocks Linda’s struggle tending the bar solo, deciding to lend a hand, reports Belfast Live.
A boozy Elaine later recklessly plans to treat Priya to a singles cruise, telling her she can pay back the cost another time.
Linda watches in horror as a hefty £5,000 vanishes from the pub’s finances, but when she confronts Elaine, she shrugs it off.
The next day, Elaine is hit by a brutal hangover, ignoring Linda who’s still aghast about the rash cruise booking.
“So, she’s dealing with things as best she can and trying to put on the front that she always puts on, but I’m not sure it’s working.”
Harriet further disclosed that Elaine getting dolled up for her party serves as a much-needed diversion.
She continued: “Elaine’s strapline for life is get off the pity pot, crack a smile and get on with it.
“However, Elaine is putting a plaster on a gaping wound and doesn’t want to show her vulnerability.
“She thinks if she puts on a costume, does her hair, applies her lipliner and pops on her heels, she’ll feel back to her old self.”
