We’re all living for updates on 2025’s ‘wedding of the year’, as journalist Lauren Sánchez prepares to walk down the aisle and marry billionaire Jeff Bezos.
But what you might not know is Sánchez has a surprising link to Australia.
Enter: Pia Miller. The Australian model, actress and former Home and Away star is married to none other than Sánchez’s ex-husband, Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell — the same man Sánchez was reportedly still with when she began her relationship with Bezos.
Yep. It’s a tangled celebrity web, and Australia’s right in the middle of it.
Let’s untangle it for you.
Who is Pia Miller?
Pia Miller needs no introduction in Australia, but we’ll give you one anyway.
Born in Viña del Mar, Chile, Miller moved to Australia at age four with her mum, brother and sister. By seven, her mum had enrolled her in modelling school — and it didn’t take long for her star to rise.
At just 14, she won the Dolly modelling competition (which also launched the careers of Miranda Kerr and Jess Hart) in 1998. She signed with Chadwick Models and was soon walking runways around the world.
At 19, she had to put her modelling career on hold when she welcomed her first son, Isaiah Loyola.
In 2005, she began dating AFL player Brad Miller, and the couple went on to have a son, Lennox, in 2006. They married the following year, but in 2015, after eight years together, Miller and Brad announced their separation.

While raising two sons, Miller pivoted into the world of entertainment — taking acting, voice and presenting classes at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
By 2009, she was hosting Qantas’ in-flight entertainment (taking over from Deborah Hutton) and had been named the official ambassador for the 2010 Australian Grand Prix.
She later landed a gig presenting Postcards Victoria, and in 2014, she was appointed Australia’s tourism ambassador to Chile. That same year, Miller scored her breakout acting role as Katarina “Kat” Chapman on Home and Away, which earned her a Logie nomination before she exited the show in 2017.
Miller went on to star in Bite Club in 2018 and appeared in the live-action Dora and the Lost City of Gold the following year, all while continuing various presenting and ambassador gigs. She also launched her own skincare brand, macabalm, and now lives in the US.
In November 2017, she got engaged to Australian film producer Tyson Mullane, but the pair quietly split in April 2019.
By the end of that same year, Miller confirmed she was dating Hollywood talent agent Patrick Whitesell, aka Sánchez’s ex-husband.
Who is Patrick Whitesell?
Whitesell is one of Hollywood’s most powerful talent agents and executives.
As co-CEO of the entertainment giant WME, he represents A-listers like Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds. Known for his high-profile connections, Whitesell has quietly become a major player behind the scenes in film and TV.
But beyond the boardroom, his personal life has made headlines, especially his marriage to Sánchez, and now Miller.
Whitesell shares two children, Evan and Ella, with Sánchez.

How is Pia Miller connected to Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos?
Miller and Whitesell were first publicly linked in May 2019, when they were spotted vacationing together in Mexico. They made their red carpet debut that November at the premiere of Ford v Ferrari in Los Angeles, and a month later, she made it Instagram official with a cosy couple pic.
While the exact details of how they met remain private, their relationship progressed quickly. They announced their engagement in November 2020 and married in May 2021.
These days, the couple live in Los Angeles, sharing a sleek multimillion-dollar mansion — and the occasional glimpse into their loved-up life.
Whitesell also happens to be the ex-husband of Sánchez.
And Sánchez? She’s now engaged to Jeff Bezos, one of the richest men in the world.
But their timeline is eyebrow-raising…

What happened between Lauren Sánchez and Patrick Whitesell?
In January 2019, Bezos and his ex-wife, author MacKenzie Scott, announced they were separating after 25 years together.
The very next day the National Enquirer published its exposé sharing Bezos was in a relationship with Sánchez. The story included private texts and intimate photos, which they reportedly obtained during a four-month investigation.
Sánchez was still married to Whitesell at the time.
Due to the nature of the business, Whitesell and Bezos are actually old friends who have worked together on Amazon’s film and TV projects.
In April, Whitesell and Sánchez filed for divorce. Despite the scandal, the pair managed to finalise their divorce amicably in October 2019, agreeing to joint custody of their two children.
Small world, huh?
