EastEnders fans were left on the edge of their seats after a gun went off in Albert Square, but it’s yet to be revealed if anyone was injured

BBC’s EastEnders is currently serving up a hearty helping of drama, with beloved characters making comebacks and new romances blossoming.

Tuesday’s episode (2 September) was full of action. Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) reluctantly reunited with her estranged mum, Kat (Jessie Wallace), and the rest of the Slater clan, all while Patrick and Yolande’s wedding reception was in full swing at the Queen Vic.

In classic EastEnders fashion, the wedding reception took a chaotic turn for some residents. Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) received some unsettling news from his wife, Denise (Diane Parish) – she’d spotted Ravi (Aaron Thiara) breaking into their house.

Leaving the reception to confront Ravi, Jack quickly discovered that Ravi was on the hunt for a gun that Jack had previously taken from his nephew Oscar (Pierre Moullier).

A scuffle ensued between Jack and Ravi, culminating in a physical altercation in the heart of Albert Square. The tussle over the firearm resulted in an accidental discharge, reports Plymouth Live.

The aftermath of this incident remains shrouded in mystery, but it’s known that both Kat and Zoe were outside the pub when the shot rang out.

EastEnders devotees are now speculating that Kat may have been caught in the crossfire. One fan posted on X: “OMG IMAGINE IF KAT GOT SHOT,” while another echoed the sentiment: “Wait, no, Kat better not have gotten shot.

“What if Kat got shot as she’s out in the street with Zoe,” one fan speculated, while another exclaimed: “So you’re telling me we’re not gonna know who was shot… UNTIL THURSDAY?! I’ve got to admit I think it’s Kat and that’s gonna be the reason Zoey sticks around.”However, another character from Albert Square had ventured outside just before the gunfire erupted. Howie (played by Delroy Hugh Atkinson) had left the Queen Vic after abruptly cutting short his speech at the reception.

This has led some EastEnders enthusiasts to speculate that this could be a significant twist in Howie’s current plotline.

One viewer shared: “I just assumed Howie got shot cos he walked out of the Vic, I forgot to consider anyone else #eastenders.

“What if Howie has been shot? We saw him leave the Vic before his speech,” another suggested, while a third predicted: “I think Howie is a dead man. #EastEnders.”
