Australian soap sweetheart Christie Hayes has happy news!
Following a difficult journey with IVF, Hayes has welcomed her little bundle of joy this week with her radio personality husband Justin Coombes-Pearce.
The actress, known best for her stint on Aussie living room staple Home and Away, took to Instagram to gush over her brand new bub and share her name.
Hayes announced the arrival of Marigold ‘Goldie’ May by posting a heart-melting photo, saying she and Coombes-Pearce are “utterly in love.”
“We are the happiest parents (and aunts, cousins, brothers, Grandparents) in the world.” she wrote.
“We wished and prayed for her for so many years, and were taught that love and belief really is the answer.”
The star, who pivoted from acting to a career in radio in 2022, has been open about her struggles with fertility and IVF over the past few years.
She has candidly discussed the four-year long process on her The Hits show Dan and Christie on multiple occasions, even admitting there were certain points where she “didn’t think it would work out.”
“You never think it’s going to when you’re doing IVF. That’s the thing, you’re in such a painful time that you can’t see it working out, but sometimes it does.”
Hayes got candid about the heart-breaking reality of she and Coombes-Pearce’s pregnancy journey, experiencing miscarriage during one the couple’s four IVF attempts.
But it was fourth time lucky for the pair; on their fourth try, in their fourth year of marriage, they were finally successful.
Australian actress Teresa Palmer, who also welcomed a baby girl – her fifth child – earlier this year, offered her congratulations to Hayes in the comments.
“Welcome Marigold, she is PERFECT” the A Discovery of Witches star said.
Coombes-Pearce also took to Instagram to share his love for his brand new daughter, saying “from the moment I saw her… held her… kissed her I realised the love I feel for this little angel is far too great to put into words.”
This is the couple’s first child together. Hayes also shares two sons, Hendrix and Harley, with ex-husband Daniel White.
The two were married for three years, though Hayes previously admitted they kept their separation quiet at the time for the sake of their sons.
They finally went public with the news in 2019, with Hayes then going on to wed her now-husband in 2021.
