EastEnders favourite Rita Simons has revealed she went “blind” after overdoing cosmetic fillers. The former Roxy Mitchell star admitted she got carried away before tying the knot with West End performer Ben Harlow last year.
The pair had been dating since 2020 before saying ‘I do’. Opening up exclusively to Daily Star, Rita explained how subtle tweaks slowly spiralled.
“So myself and a lot of other women my age, at nearly 50, have fillers. It’s cosmetic. You get a little bit to fill out a bit here, but then over the years you start to get a little bit blind to it,” she admitted.
The 48-year-old said she didn’t initially realise how much her look had changed.
“It’s actually called filler blindness. Lips are a little bit too big, a bit puffier so I went and I just had all my fillers dissolved, which is an injection that literally dissolves everything,” she said.
Rather than regret it, Rita says the decision paid off. “It was probably the best thing I did for my face, and I actually ended up looking younger,” she added.
So would she ever go back? “Once you’ve dissolved them all, you’re then addicted to not looking puffy. I don’t disagree with fillers at all. I think filler is brilliant, used correctly and in the right place, but a lot of people just get the blindness and keep tweaking,” Rita explained.
She revealed she has even turned down major roles recently.
“I’m trying not to just say yes to everything and focus on the things that I love. This year is about making good decisions for me, more drama, more film. It’s about balance and not burning myself out, which I’ve done so much in the past.”
