EastEnders fans are convinced a new murder plot is set to send waves through Walford
EastEnders has teased trouble for expectant Penny Branning as the mystery surrounding her baby’s father deepens.
On Monday (March 30), Penny (Kitty Castledine) attended her initial baby scan and learnt she was more advanced in her pregnancy than anticipated, suggesting Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) was probably not the dad.
She quickly confided in Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier) about her shocking revelation, revealing to her cousins that her child’s father could well be her former partner, Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway).
During Tuesday’s (March 31) instalment of the BBC drama, Penny revealed she and Harry were intimate shortly before his departure for rehab, though she’d always believed the baby belonged to Vinny, given their unprotected encounter.
While Lauren urged Penny to come clean and arrange a paternity test, Oscar proposed she could conceal the truth without destroying her world, reports OK!.
Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) reached out to Penny seeking reconciliation after her earlier coldness, but Penny felt remorseful about the scan findings and lashed out, declaring she couldn’t accept the premises Vinny was purchasing for her.
When Suki challenged Penny about her altered stance in the café, Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington) intervened protectively, then escorted Penny to Harry’s Barn, where the two expectant mothers shared an intimate conversation.
Nicola sensed something was amiss with Penny, who confessed that something unexpected had emerged at her scan. Later, Harry revealed to his mum that Gina (Francesca Henry) didn’t want children and confessed he’d slept with Penny last year, and Nicola finally pieced everything together.
Nicola confronted Penny and told her she knew everything, but Penny rejected the idea that her baby was Harry’s, so Nicola pressed her to take a DNA test to prove it.
“You do a test, show me the results, then all this will be cleared up,” she warned. “Unless, of course, you want me to go and talk to Harry, or your fella? See what they think about all this. It’s up to you.”
As Penny potentially makes enemies of both Suki and Nicola, some EastEnders fans are convinced Penny will be murdered by one of the women when the truth about her baby’s paternity emerges.
As viewers will recall, Nicola previously murdered Harry’s pregnant ex-girlfriend, Shireen, while Suki framed her own son, Jags Panesar (Amar Adatia), to sabotage his relationship with Habiba and punish him for defying her. Jags was subsequently killed in prison.
In a special EastEnders flash-forward that aired on New Year’s Day, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) was seen looking anxious as he cared for a baby named Ethan, leaving audiences wondering why the tot’s parents were missing. Now, fans believe Penny is dead, and Jack is caring for his grandson.
Taking to X, one person wrote: “Nicola’s going to kill Penny #eastenders”, while a second exclaimed: “A third chimed in: “Suki or Nicola is gonna end off Penny, I just know it #EastEnders.”
