Does he want to stay or does he want to go? That’s what a lot of General Hospital fans can’t help but wonder when it comes to the one and only Maurice Benard.

Tragic Details About Maurice Benard And General Hospital

The actor, who is best known for his role as Sonny Corinthos has been toying with the idea of hanging up his boots and saying goodbye to Port Charles forever.

Of course, that would be absolutely tragic for General Hospital fans as everyone knows that the streets of Port Charles just wouldn’t be the same without Sonny, right? But at the same time, it does seem like Maurice does have other ideas in mind and other projects that he wants to pursue.

There’s also been heavy speculation suggesting that Maurice Benard might be just as desperate for a long vacation from this fictional city of Port Charles, just like his co-worker and good friend, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

It was just announced by Steve himself that he was planning on taking several long months off from the soap and that he was looking to get back to work sometime later this year.

The actor has made it pretty clear that he wants to become a talk show host and a full-time advocate for better mental health. After all, that’s what he’s been doing for the past five years on his YouTube series, State of Mind.

What’s Next For Maurice Benard?

But here’s the thing: whenever one of Maurice’s General Hospital co-stars has anything to say about their own mental health and past experiences and struggles, the actor seems to make it a part of his story, too.

But is that what he wants to do? Or is he just a storyteller when it comes to sharing his own past experiences and giving his co-stars a platform to talk about their own? That’s what a lot of people can’t help but wonder.

That said, if Maurice does end up making an announcement about his future with General Hospital, there’s no doubt that you are going to hear about it here first. Watch this space as we have a feeling there is so much more to come.
