Home and Away star Harley Bonner slams ‘cancel culture’ after quitting the soap in the wake of Channel Seven’s Covid vaccine mandate

Last month, Harley Bonner left Home and Away when Channel Seven imposed a requirement that all cast and staff members be completely vaccinated against Covid-19.

On Wednesday, the 30-year-old actor wrote a lengthy Instagram post regarding cancel culture following his departure from the drama.

‘Cancel culture is the lamest of the lame,’ he began.

‘Why would you waste time wishing someone didn’t exist purely because they said something that made you feel something you perceived as a negative?’ he added.

‘Because you’re “offended”. So? What then? Why is feeling offended suddenly [the] most unacceptable experience?

‘A better use of your time would be to ask yourself why you were offended in the first place.’

Bonner continued: ‘Take control of your damn experience. Wishing the experience away rather than addressing you’re [sic] own mental triggers is the laziest s**t ever.’

‘There is fire everywhere but we hold the gun powder.’

He concluded by saying: ‘World needs to screw it’s [sic] damn head back on.’

While it’s unknown what caused Bonner’s outburst, he had previously shared a post criticizing individuals wanting to have podcaster Joe Rogan’s show canceled.

Bonner left Home and Away last month after less than a year on the show, according to Channel Seven.

His departure coincided with Seven Productions’ implementation of a policy mandating all cast and crew members to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Bonner and Seven have yet to confirm or deny that his resignation was linked to the vaccine mandate.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Bonner for comment.

Last month, the actor took to Instagram to express his dissatisfaction with his leaving, claiming he was very delighted’ and thanking fans for their support.

‘Thanks and love to you all,’ he wrote. ‘I’m very happy. Life’s good. Keep spreading kindness.’

He concluded his message with a love-heart emoji.

Bonner came up for the first time since the network announced he will not be returning to Home and Away.

‘Channel Seven can confirm Harley will not return to Home and Away when filming resumes in the coming weeks,’ a Seven spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.

After previously appearing on rival Channel 10 series Neighbours, Bonner made his debut in August as gorgeous trauma surgeon Dr. Logan Bennett.
