Home and Away has confirmed that Ari Parata is terminally ill.
In Thursday night’s episodes in Australia, Ari, played by Rob Kipa-Williams, received a sad diagnosis.
After making a false confession to the murder of Matthew Montgomery, the popular character has been held on remand for the previous few weeks.
Ari took the fall to protect his girlfriend Mia Anderson (Anna Samson) and her daughter Chloe (Sam Barrett), both of whom were involved in the frightening standoff that resulted in Matthew’s death.
Ari was brought to the hospital after having terrible abdominal discomfort and nausea behind bars in Channel 7’s triple-header of programs on Thursday night.
Doctor Logan Bennett (Harley Bonner) initially diagnosed Ari with appendicitis and assured them that a simple operation would resolve the situation.
Unfortunately, when Ari arrived in the operation room, the hospital staff discovered that his health problem was even more serious.
Ari has appendix cancer, which has resulted in tumors in the abdomen, and Logan had to break the news to her.
He went on to say that due to Ari’s terrible sickness, there was little the hospital could do to help him.
Ari’s options included a massive 16-hour procedure to remove the tumors, according to Logan.
Ari’s tumors would grow back and he’d have to have the operation every three months, so this would not be a cure.
Ari’s family was devastated when he abruptly decided he didn’t want to have the surgery.
Ari claimed that it was preferable for him to die on his own terms because he was already facing a life sentence for Matthew’s murder.
Rob Kipa-Williams’ exit from the cast of Home and Away has been rumored for months, although the show has never formally acknowledged his departure.
Ari prepares to marry Mia at the hospital in next week’s episodes in Australia, in tragic new scenes.
Fans of Home and Away in the United Kingdom will be able to catch these episodes in April.
