Nikau (Kawakawa Fox-Reo) and Tane (Ethan Browne) have been in New Zealand bringing Ari’s (Rob Kipa-Williams) body back to his family.
When John (Shane Withington) returns them home from the airport, they are acutely aware of the void Ari has left in their lives. Mia (Anna Samson) is delighted to see them, while Bella (Courtney Miller) is overjoyed to see Nikau again.
Bella has been caring for Chloe (Sam Barrett) while the rest of the family has been gone, and she is looking forward to spending time with her lover.
After the funeral expenses, Nikau chats with Chloe, implying that the family is cash-strapped. Perhaps she might return to her shifts at the Diner to assist?
Irene (Lynne McGranger) tries to locate some shifts for Chloe, but she breaks down and walks out of the Diner when she tries to get back into her routine. She returns home and seeks comfort from Bella, but the pair is occupied in Nikau’s room, and Nikau informs her that they require more space.
The next day, Chloe reveals that she’s having a hard time and couldn’t even finish her shift at the Diner, leaving Bella and Nikau feeling guilty.
They apologise for rushing Chloe into employment, and Bella promises to devote more time to supporting both of them in the future.
Despite the fact that the couple had plans for the day, they end up spending it with Chloe, and before Nikau knows it, he’s either alone while the girls hang out or the three of them are doing something. When will he be able to spend time with Bella alone?
