Viewers of Coronation Street are certain they know who will defeat Rowan Cunliffe.
Those who follow soap operas will remember that Rowan, a mystery newcomer, has singled out Leanne for his “self-improvement group,” The Institute. In Leanne’s hour of need, Rowan has also been yanking her away from her sister Toyah Battersby and partner Nick Tilsley.
Rowan has been encouraging Leanne to open up about her past and the trauma she has faced, using his tools and guiding her to speak aloud about parts of her life. In a shock twist, Rowan was revealed to be recording everything Leanne was saying without her knowledge. Of course, viewers will recall that Toyah has been concerned for Leanne and extremely sceptical of Rowan.

After learning of Toyah and Nick’s affair, Rowan has been blackmailing the duo while he has also targeted Amy Barlow on the cobbles as a new recruit for The Institute. Soap watchers know he’s just after money and it’s all a scam. He’s been targeting vulnerable people to invest including Leanne, and Amy is just his latest target.
After some sessions she seemed keen to join Rowan and the others, and wanted to put her £40,000 inheritance money towards the organisation. However, her grandfather Ken Barlow wouldn’t release the funds though, as they were left for her by her late grandmother Deirdre. However, after being persuaded by Leanne, Ken decided it was legit, agreeing to release Amy’s funds.
As the storyline continues, viewers have been taking to Twitter, now X, to predict who will take down Rowan and how he will exit the cobbles. One person said: “Hope the rumours are true that Tracey love brings down Rowan #Corrie”, a different account wrote: “Tracy, please destroy Rowan #Corrie”, another said: “Tracy will protect Amy”, a different fan pointed out: “Does Rowan know who he’s messing with…”, another said: “Cannot wait for the Tracy v Rowan battle. Tracy will tear him to shreds. #corrie” while a different fan added: “Tracy is gonna destroy Rowan. She’s dealt with much worse than him.”
It comes as in scenes next week Leanne makes a chilling Rowan discovery as Amy is put ‘in danger’ – will Tracy save her daughter?
