Coronation Street enthusiasts believe they have unravelled the mystery of Betsy Swain’s ‘true’ parentage, suggesting that DS Lisa Swain is not her real mother.
The character, portrayed by Sydney Martin, arrived on the scene earlier this year as the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). It was disclosed that Lisa’s wife and Betsy’s mother, Becky, had tragically passed away while on duty, leading to a strained relationship between Betsy and Lisa.
Betsy soon became caught up in a storm of drama, getting involved with the shady lawyer Joel Deering (Calum Lill), whom she blackmailed. In response, he threatened her, leaving her scared.
