Next week, as the walls start to close in, the ominous solicitor Joel Deering (Calum Lill) acts irrationally as the case against evil is officially reopened due to fresh evidence.
He tries to play former fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and fails, so Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) doesn’t know what to do. However, when he sets his sights on Roy Cropper (David Neilson), things quickly come to a frightening climax.
Following her newborn baby Frankie’s seizure, the new mother is also experiencing additional distress as a result of the physicians’ heartbreaking admission.
Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) also finds herself fighting for her life after deciding to undergo a liposuction procedure at the clinic she is visiting to write a piece on in Turkey.
Not only does the botched procedure have life-altering consequences, her family face financial ruin when a problem with her health insurance comes to light.
Here’s the full lowdown on what’s happening on the cobbles next week…
Monday September 23
Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) takes a worrying call and breaks the news to Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) that Bethany is in intensive care and they must fly to Turkey immediately.
Joel tries to manipulate Dee-Dee by telling her he loves her, presenting their wedding rings and telling her they’re a reminder of everything he’s lost. As Dee-Dee recoils, Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) step in – just how far will they go to protect her?
Meanwhile, doctors are still worried about Frankie following his seizure last week, and when Roy pops by the hospital to visit Lauren, she breaks down revealing they fear her son might have brain damage.
Elsewhere, Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) begs Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) to come clean about planting the purse on Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), while Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) are still clashing over Paul Foreman’s (Peter Ash) funeral – and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) soon comes up with a surprising compromise.
Wednesday September 25
While Bethany continues to battle a severe infection, Daniel and Sarah are stunned to learn that due to issues with travel insurance, Bethany can’t leave the country until her medical bills are paid. But Bethany’s nightmare continues, as when she regains consciousness, Sarah has to break some life-changing news.
Lauren tells Dee-Dee she’s been following Joel on a tracker app and he’s spent considerable time in a field, then an industrial park and to top it off, he transferred £5k into her account without an explanation. What is he up to?
Mason is released from young offenders, panicking his former victim Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall). After texting stepdad Gary Windass (Mikey North), he charges in and pins Mason against a wall. Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) arrives just in time to diffuse the situation and offers Mason his job at Speed Daal back – but it’s clear this is far from over for Gary.
Over at the Bistro, Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) celebrate her 40th birthday, but their meal is interrupted by a concerning message from Hope’s (Isabella Flanagan) school.
Meanwhile, Gemma tries to get Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to pull a few strings as plans for Paul’s memorial rave gather pace.
Friday September 27
It’s what would have been Dee-Dee and Joel’s wedding day, and alone in his flat, Joel opens his notebook and writes a letter. He later finds Roy alone in the cafe and drunkenly stumbles in, locking the door behind him. Is Roy in danger?
Daniel hatches a plan to set up a crowdfunding page to pay for Bethany’s £25k medical fees, but there’s more horror for the Platts when she takes a worrying turn for the worse.
Mason is sporting a fresh black eye as he starts back at Speed Daal, and while he tries to fob Stu and Yasmeen off, it’s clear he’s hiding something. Later that night, he returns to the closed restaurant and rolls out a sleeping back.
Elsewhere, Billy’s gutted to realise that Paul’s funeral falls on what would have been their first wedding anniversary, and after shrugging off her parents’ warnings about vaping, Hope steals more vapes from the corner shop.
