Coronation Street legend Sue Cleaver has shared a wholesome tribute after the devastating loss of her pet dog, George.
Taking to Instagram, the Eileen Grimshaw star shared a sweet picture of her pup, writing: ‘We have just had say goodbye to our best friend Gorgeous George Paws. Love them hard and let them go when they tell you it’s time. RIP Georgy xxx’.
Her Coronation Street co-stars quickly expressed their support in the comments of the post.
“No! Sue, I’m so, so sorry, my love. Gorgeous George Paws,” wrote Julia Goulding, who plays Shona Platt, along with a red heart emoji. She continued, “He was such a beautiful, happy dog. You gave him a wonderful life. Sending love xxx.”
“I’m so sorry, Sue,” wrote Sally Carman, who portrays Abi Webster.
Former Corrie and Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon commented, “Oh noooooo, Sue!” along with a sad face emoji. “Little George… I’m so sorry. Sending massive hugs,” she added.
Fans also expressed their condolences, with one writing, “So sorry for your loss.”
‘I am so so very sorry to hear such sad news. Thinking of you and sending all my love,’ another said, while a third penned: ‘Sorry to hear that.’
Sue’s cobbles counterpart Eileen returned to the street last night, but it wasn’t smooth sailing.
After mere minutes in Weatherfield, she came face to face with ex-partner Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson), and it was safe to safe that she was furious.
It was later revealed that Jesse had returned to see Gail Platt (Helen Worth), and that the pair had shared a brief fling in Thailand in 2021.
The news left Eileen horrified, and she was quick to spread it all over the street.
At the end of the episode, she gave a stark warning that Gail may be set for another disaster – is she right?
