Sue Cleaver of Coronation Street will be replaced in a role away from Weatherfield by a previous co-star.
The actress, who has spent the last 20 years playing Eileen Grimshaw, took a break earlier this year to work on a new project.
She had been starring as Mother Superior in Sister Act The Musical.
With Sue having returned to the cobbles, a new Mother Superior has been announced – and it’s none other than former Corrie co-star Wendi Peters.
Wendi, who previously played Cilla Brown, overlapped with Sue during her time in the ITV soap.
Viewers may remember Cilla as the mother of Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) and Chesney (Sam Aston).
Featuring regularly from 2003 to 2007, Cilla most recently returned back in 2014, in a guest star capacity.
Since then, Wendi has appeared in the likes of Doctors and Midsomer Murders.
As for Sue, her stint in the role was originally announced in October 2023.
Corrie’s official Instagram page shared the news, by posting a video of the actress discussing her new part.
The caption read: “Praise the lord – Sue Cleaver is swapping the cobbles for the convent!
“Sue will be playing the role of Mother Superior in Sister Act The Musical* in 2024.”
The soap star also took to her page to speak out about the exciting new venture.
Sue added: “Holy Moly… Praise The Lord… Hallelujah…
“It’s Nun other than the truth…
“After 20+ years away from the theatre, I am appearing in Sister Act next year!!!”
It is not the first time that Sue has pursued opportunities away from the world of Coronation Street.
In 2022, she ventured into the I’m A Celeb jungle, opposite campmates such as Matt Hancock, Owen Warner, Mike Tindall and winner Jill Scott.
On Day 16, she became the third contestant to be voted out of camp and finished ninth overall.
