Police reportedly arrested a man in his 50s on the set of EastEnders after he allegedly tried to forcibly kiss a female extra while cameras were rolling
An EastEnders actor was arrested on the set of the BBC soap after allegedly trying to forcibly kiss a female co-star. Cameras had been filming when a female extra accused a fellow extra, a man in his 50s, of trying to snog her.
Security tried to grab the man which is said to have caused a scuffle on set. The unidentified man was then handed to police who attended Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.
He was held on suspicion of indecent assault of the unnamed woman, and common assault of another person. It’s understood the second person was involved in removing him from the scene.
He is on bail as the complaint is investigated, according to The Sun.
It’s believed filming started again after a long break. The woman was looked after by staff.
A source told the paper: “In all the years of filming EastEnders nothing this dramatic has happened – with police turning up at the studios.
“Everyone was quite shaken up by it all. No one could quite believe what was happening.
“The main focus was the woman’s welfare as she was clearly very distressed.”
The source went on: “It got very heated when the man square up to the security staff as they tried to calm things. Eventually he was questioned and taken away by police.”
Hertfordshire Police said: “We can confirm we did receive a report of an incident that took place in Eldon Avenue, Borehamwood on Wednesday May 7.
The suspect, a man aged in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of common assault and sexual assault in relation to two victims.
“He is on police bail whilst enquiries continue.”
It’s reported that cameras did not capture the alleged attack, with stars including Adam Woodyatt on set at the time.
