After EastEnders’ hard guy Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) declined the chance to become a police informant in exchange for his freedom, it appeared that he would be facing a lengthy prison sentence. Sharon (Letitia Dean) just pleaded with him to reconsider.
She realized Ben’s mental state was precarious after witnessing him fight a homophobic man in an alleyway, and that he could wind up back in prison.
She went to Phil’s cell and told him what had happened to Ben, pleading with him not to take DCI Keeble’s (Alison Newman) offer. Phil needs to be out of prison and keeping an eye on Ben, she insisted.
Phil mulls over this concept in future episodes, pondering how best to safeguard Ben – and he makes a decision.
When Ritchie confirms that Phil is meeting DCI Keeble, Sharon is relieved, hoping that this means Phil has decided to accept the offer.
Will Phil commit to being a police informant (and breaking decades of The Mitchell Code) for the sake of his son at the meeting?
