Former Home and Away cast member Matt Little returns for ‘Wedding of the decade’ cameo

Most actors finish a job and part ways with both the cast and crew, but that hasn’t entirely been the experience of Matt Little, who’s returning to Home and Away for the ‘wedding of the decade’.

Appearing on the show as VJ Patterson between 2014 and 2017, Little resides in Sydney himself and regularly relives his experience of “Palm Beach sunrises” when driving along the city’s famous coastline.

“Every time I’m up in the Northern beaches or something like that, I think about it,” he said.

“I just think it’s pretty lucky that was my job and I got to go to the most beautiful spots in the world.”

The now 31-year-old first made a splash in Summer Bay at the age of 20, and after several years adrift, described his reunion with past and present cast members as “emotional”.

He returned to reprise his role as the son of Leah Patterson-Baker, played by mainstay Ada Nicodemou.

“It was amazing (reuniting with) long time friends and it was really quite emotional to get to work with people that I haven’t worked with in a long time and I was close to,” Little said.

With a host of other cast members invited home, including Penny McNamee who plays Tori, the actor relished the opportunity to work with “mates” that he’s known for 10 years in what feels like a “community”.

He revealed the biggest challenge was keeping it to himself.

“Don’t say anything on social media,” Little was told.

Star of the long-running soap James Stewart, who plays soon-to-be-married Justin, was in town for the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest recently and revealed festivities were planned up to six months in advance.

“It was the most beautiful thing in the world,” he said.

“We aimed for… and I’m not using these words lightly, but wedding of the decade. And that’s what we’ve got.”

Fears the large scale event may bring turmoil or despair to the show’s paradisiacal shores were put to bed by the Queensland-based actor.

“No bombs, no one’s coming back from the dead. There’s no ex-husband that’s going to come back and storm down the aisle or ruin anything.”

Fans will have to wait until April to experience the wholesome event, framed within the gorgeous backdrop of the Hunter Valley.
