According to teasers for General Hospital, Maurice Bernard’s character Sonny Corinthos is accustomed to getting away with any crimes he does. In actuality, Sonny was the one who killed FBI Agent John Cates (Adam Harrington) with cold blood.
Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), who gave Sonny an alibi, and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), who cleaned up the crime scene, both assisted him. In the end, Steve Burton’s character Jason Morgan disposed of the murder weapon by submerging it in acid.

What Sonny didn’t know at the time was that his daughter, Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) broke into his penthouse and stole another gun from Sonny’s lockbox.
She went to the cemetery first but then she pulled into the Quartermaine driveway as well. Since Sonny has an alibi, suspicion would have automatically turned to Kristina.
But Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) found the gun and threw it over the footbridge. As fate would have it, Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) witnessed Alexis and informed the authorities.

Additionally, the day Cates was murdered, Alexis threated his life right in the middle of the police station. Given all the evidence, Alexis how now been arrested for Sonny’s crime.
But eventually, all eyes will turn to Kristina since Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) is determined to exonerate Alexis by pointing out Kristina as a viable suspect.
Sonny now faces a huge dilemma regardless of whether Kristina or Alexis ends up charged with the crime. Sonny may be put in a position where he has to confess to his crime.

It’s worth noting that Sonny actually did murder Cates. He’s guilty of a crime and should probably be punished appropriately. Cates was a terrible person in the end, but he didn’t deserve to die.
Sonny will likely have to serve at least a little time in Pentonville. There’s always a chance someone else could end up as a fall guy, since that’s Michael’s plan but until then there’s a very real chance Sonny will go to prison so that Kristina and Alexis can go free.
