Home and Away viewers are worried that Claudia’s arrival in Summer Bay could spell the end of a fairytale romance.
The latest storyline to hit Home and Away is rather dramatic, as per usual. Mysterious newcomer Claudia, played by Rachael Carpani, has arrived in Summer Bay after crashing her car. In a twist of events, Justin Morgan (James Stewart) was implicated in her accident, as his nephew Theo Poulos (Matt Evans) serviced it at his garage prior.
The show’s social media account recently shared a new promo about Claudia’s next move, with the caption reading: “Will her arrival break apart Justin’s family?” In the promo, Claudia is seen threatening to sue Justin over the phone before he meets up with her in person. Soon enough, he begins to blow off his wife Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou) and starts sneaking around. He admits he’s lying to his family and is seen getting into a car with the mysterious blonde.
Fans went wild over the promo, with many convinced Claudia will eventually destroy Leah and Justin’s marriage. After all, Leah hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to marriages (this is the fourth time she’s tied the knot.)
“I can see this lady is going to come between Justin and Leah’s marriage real quick,” one person wrote.
“Is her character here about to break up Justin and Leah’s marriage?” another asked.
“Leah and Justin were finally happy for five minutes,” a third chimed in.
“Does this insinuate to anyone else that it appears this woman asks Justin to sleep with her in return for not suing him?” a fourth theorised.
“Oh I hope they’re not going to make him cheat on Leah, please leave them happy,” another begged.
Fans criticise Home and Away writers for introducing Claudia
Others shared frustration over yet another dark character arc, with some calling for the writers to include some wholesome storylines.
“Can we have some more happy moments no more crime, lying and cheating,” one fan pleaded.
“Why always dramatic repetitive dramas! Why can’t some characters adopt kids and turn their lives around more like the good days?” another added.
“Another con artist, please we need new stories,” a third remarked.
“Here we go again can we just have some nice storylines for a change?” another wrote.
Rachael Carpani hints at ‘villain’ behaviour to come
In an interview with 7News, Rachael Carpani admitted that Claudia is a “very flawed human being” and warned fans Claudia will be causing “a little bit of damage”.
“She blames Justin. And of course, that affects Leah and Theo as well,” she said, adding her actions will “kick up some dirt in the Morgan household”.
“This is a really interesting character on the surface, she’s a little bit of a villain and very easy to judge, but I think this will be a good exercise in playing a very flawed human being. And it’s possible for someone to be a good person who makes bad choices.”
While Rachael is at odds with Ada’s character Leah on screen, the actor said their animosity didn’t translate off screen.
“Ada has the most insane amount of energy and the most gorgeously positive attitude, even at 5am,” she gushed. “[She was] so welcoming and just lovely.”
