Viewers have requested a huge change for next year’s season.
Home and Away fans were delighted by a nostalgic surprise in last week’s finale. Instead of the usual preview for upcoming episodes, the feature-length finale ended with an extended version of the iconic theme song playing over the closing credits.
The theme song, Home and Away, was a staple of the opening credits for over 5,000 episodes from 1988 to 2010. After being replaced by an instrumental version for eight years, a shortened eight-second version returned in 2018.
While international broadcasts began featuring the theme song during closing credits in 2018, this marks the first time it has been used to close an episode on Australian TV, making it a memorable moment for longtime fans.
Fans took to social media following the recent episode to express their excitement over hearing the theme song, with many demanding that it becomes a permanent part of the show next year.
“Anyone get emotional hearing the theme song? Please bring it back for 2025!” one fan shared, while another added, “Reminds me of the old Home and Away days”.
“Omg the first thing I said to my kids was yes finally the true Home and Away theme! Bring it back,” a third replied, followed by someone else who said, “It’s not Home and Away without it”.
“I was amazed, and actually a little overwhelmed, to see it play at the end of the season finale in Australia. I know for timing reasons they can’t show it in Australia because of the ‘next time’ clips. They should just remove the ‘next time’ spoilers and put the theme back in,” a different user suggested.
“Was great and a surprise to hear and see the theme song closing credits after almost 20 years. Hopefully this promo is telling us hints that the full opening titles theme song is back in 2025,” another commented.
When does Home and Away return in 2025?
Home and Away is set to return on Monday, January 13 and pick up right where it left off, with Justin discovering Cash at the scene of what appears to be a violent crime. Cash had woken up next to Tim, who may or may not be alive, with blood on his hands.
Cash had originally gone to find his ex Eden, who was at a secluded resort with Tim and the rest of the band Lyrik, to warn her that Tim’s ex-client Nerida was on the rampage and out for revenge.
Home and Away will make its highly anticipated return on Monday, January 13, 2025, resuming the gripping storyline where it left off.
Viewers will rejoin the drama as Justin stumbles upon Cash at the scene of a suspected violent crime. Cash wakes up next to Tim, whose fate remains uncertain, with blood on his hands.
The tension escalated when Cash went to warn his ex, Eden, who was at a remote resort with Tim and the band Lyrik. He intended to alert her about Tim’s vengeful ex-client, Nerida, who was on a dangerous rampage.
