Fans are worried that Emily Weir’s snap from overseas could mean her time on the show is up.
Home and Away fans have been left praying to the Summer Bay gods after rumours of a fan favourite character’s contract being up, with the actor currently appearing to be on holidays and nowhere NEAR Sydney’s Palm Beach. Uh oh.
While rumours have been floating for some time that Luke Van Os, who plays Xander, and Kirsty Marillier, who plays Rose, will be leaving the show after their three-year contracts finish, it’s been pointed out that Emily Weir who plays Mackenzie Booth would also have her contract potentially ending around a similar time.
One admin pointed this out in a Home and Away Facebook fan group, saying while it wasn’t confirmed, Emily’s “contract is up and she has been travelling with Sarah Roberts and Tim Franklin” who are two of her former Home and Away co-stars. Yahoo Lifestyle has reached out to Channel Seven for comment about the rumours.
The admin of the group also said it Kirsty’s departure was also not confirmed, despite rumours she wouldn’t have her contract renewed due to other commitments in 2025. Kirsty was spotted filming only two weeks ago, which insinuates her storyline will continue into 2025.
Is Emily Weir leaving Home and Away?
After fan favourite Jacqui Purvis, who played Felicity Newman, departed earlier this year, fans are understandably a little on edge about another fave leaving. However, Emily told Yahoo Lifestyle earlier this year that she already had ideas on how she’d leave the show.
“For me, I don’t ever want to die. I want to leave the Bay so there’s always a place where I can come back to,” Emily said with a laugh. “But I mean, look, if I had to, I’d love to be in a gunfight or something really left of field. Really do some martial arts, like a fight scene or something.”
Fans are hoping the star is just taking a well-deserved break from the show and is on holiday, not actually leaving the soap for good.
“I don’t think Mac will leave, as she is wanting to own Salt by herself,” one fan pointed out. “You’re forgetting that they film six months in advance and who says she doesn’t get someone to run it for her or she sells it,” another person rebutted. “Nooo, I hope Emily doesn’t confirm,” someone else worried.
“I’ve seen somewhere it’s their two-week break, that’s why she’s on holiday but not sure,” another person stated. “I think they’re on holidays as Jess Redmayne (Harper) is in London so that would explain Emily being in the US,” someone else pointed out.
“OMG!! Levi will have to find someone new!!!!” another worried fan said, citing Mac’s love interest Dr Levi Fowler. “He probably already has,” another joked in response, in a nod to the affair storyline that brought Mac and Levi together.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
