Home and Away fans spot puzzling editing fail in scenes between Ada Nicodemou and Lynne McGranger on the soap: ‘They’d be fired’

Fans of Home and Away have turned on the show for being unrealistic after spotting a weird detail in a recent episode.

Viewers have taken to a Facebook fan page dedicated to Seven’s long running soap to mock the ‘mistake’.

The criticism centred on how the owner of Summer Bay’s diner Irene played by Lynne McGranger does not seem to care if her business partner Leah (Ada Nicodemou) does any work.

One enterprising fan even created a meme that threw shade on Irene’s ‘casual’ attitude to running a business.

In the post, shared to a Facebook group, a scene from the show is captioned: ‘Can I go out around lunchtime, Irene? Sure, Leah! It’s probably our busiest time of day at the diner but whatever.’

Other viewers were quick to slam the same scene which showed Irene working the rush hour in the diner alone after Leah ditched work to sort a personal drama.

‘Don’t worry about it Leah go out at lunch time, poor Irene will do the lunch rush,’ added another viewer. ‘In the real world they’d be fired,’ agreed another fan.

Fans also took time out to show up the character of Irene’s ‘failings’ as a hospitality professional.

Amongst the criticisms were the fact that Irene can’t seem to prepare a sandwich or make a coffee properly.

‘I noticed her making a coffee in the diner last night, no steam, empty cups,’ one eagle-eyed viewer posted on the thread.

However one die hard Summer Bay fan was prepared to stand up for Irene’s skills:

‘Maybe it was iced coffee?’ they suggested.

‘Nope, she was at the cappuccino machine,’ replied the other fan.

Other viewers noticed how the characters of Irene and Leah don’t engage with the ‘casual staff’ seen ‘working’ in the background of scenes in the diner.

‘They never talk to the hired help in the dinner and you never see them making the food orders,’ the fan noted.

It comes after Home and Away star Matt Evans has revealed the long-running soap will kill off one of its beloved characters.

The actor, 26, appeared on The Morning Show on Friday to share the plot twist in a very dramatic announcement.

The Voice Australia star remained coy about who exactly will get the cut next week, but he insisted one unlucky character’s days are numbered in Summer Bay.

Matt gave his ominous warning while staring directly into the camera after breakfast show hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies asked about rumours of a character death.

‘All I can say is next week a stranger will come into the Bay and someone will die,’ he told viewers at home.

It’s unclear which character fans will say goodbye to, but with so little clues being drip-fed to viewers at home, it seems anyone could be on the culling list.

Meanwhile fans can expect a major shake up as new faces join the cast and fan favourites make unexpected exits in the next few weeks.

Home and Away news page Back to the Bay has shared insights into the iconic soap’s future.

The site reported that newcomers have been spotted on set, while one beloved character has been notably absent, sparking rumours about a possible departure.
