Coming up this week on Home and Away in Australia, Lyrik’s return presents Theo with a huge opportunity, as Alf announces that he’s leaving Summer Bay.
Summer Bay’s in danger of losing it’s most famous resident this week, as Alf Stewart (Ray Meagher) has to decide whether to leave town in the name of love.
The couple has divided their time between Summer Bay and Martha’s country retreat outside of Merimbula since Alf wedded his ‘no-longer-dead’ first wife Martha (Belinda Giblin) just over two years ago.
Due to her borderline personality disorder, Martha first found it difficult to adjust to life in Summer Bay. However, she has since come to appreciate having a family again and always having a secure place to go to if necessary.
Following her recent kidney transplant, Martha, Alf, and daughter-cum-donor Roo (Georgie Parker) all moved back to Merimbula, where they were both taken care of by Martha’s son Kieran (Rick Donald), who has been living there since last year.
A few weeks ago, Roo made his way back to Summer Bay, and last week, Alf—who seemed to be in a particularly foul mood—did the same.
When Roo enquired about Martha, she revealed something that completely stunned her: Martha had reportedly made the decision to stay in Merimbula permanently and wouldn’t be returning to Summer Bay!
As Roo realised he would have to choose between leaving the town he has lived in all of his life or moving to be with his wife, Alf’s grumpiness finally made sense.
It certainly seemed Alf wasn’t in any state of mind to make a decision just yet
“The woman you love is never coming back to Summer Bay, ever!” Roo exclaimed. “What does that mean for you?”
Alf quickly departed the restaurant to attend to some surf club business rather than debate it, stating he would make a choice later.
This week, Roo keeps pressuring a hesitant Alf to make a choice, but she only serves to irritate him more; it doesn’t seem he will be able to prevail any way.
Then, back in the diner, Alf says the words no one ever imagined they’d hear after deciding he can never lose Martha again.
“I’m leaving Summer Bay.”
Is this really going to be goodbye to Alf Stewart?

Elsewhere in Summer Bay, after their triumphant gig at Salt’s relaunch two weeks ago, Lyrik are back in town.
Mackenzie (Emily Weir), the restaurant’s new co-owner, was first opposed to hosting a live music night, which Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) had recommended. However, after the night’s increased sales, Mackenzie has been eager to have the band back.
Mac had no idea how difficult it had been for Flick to get her old friends to agree to play the gig in the first place.
While Eden (Stephanie Panozzo), Remi (Adam Rowland), and Kirby (Angelina Thomson) appeared to be in favour of it, lead singer Bob (Rob Mallett) flat-out refused, claiming that the band was better than playing at a bar.
Only after being outvoted and having his girlfriend Kirby vote against him did Bob grudgingly agree to take the work as a favour to Flick, who had earlier helped them break through when they were just starting out several years prior.
Although realising it’d be a tall order to get them back, Flick has been leaving several messages for Eden, and Flick was surprised when the band pulled up in their van alongside her at the end of last week.
Flick explains that she has the offer of a weekly gig for them at Salt, meaning a regular wage, but Bob once again turns it down, stating that they “don’t play in hick towns“.
Whilst Eden and Remi are all for staying on, Bob feels that the two are holding them back.
As tensions rise, things all come to a head when Bob decides to leave town, and asks Kirby to come with him.
“Open your eyes Kirbs,” he states. “You’ll never get anywhere with those losers“.
As he completes packing the van, he offers Kirby one more opportunity to join him, but it appears Kirby has had enough of submitting to Bob’s demands, so Bob is left to depart town alone.
Now that Eden, Remi, and Kirby have decided to live in Summer Bay permanently, they must find a new band member. But who might be the right fit…?
As it happens, Theo Poulos (Matt Evans), who saw Lyrik perform at Salt, is in awe of them. Theo has discovered his own secret musical abilities, but he dismisses Chloe’s (Sam Barrett) advice to pursue it because he’d never be good enough.
When Theo was a teenager, his father Dimitri (Salvatore Coco) broke his guitar, shattering his self-confidence. When Justin (James Stewart) and Leah (Ada Nicodemou) found out that Dimitri had stolen Justin’s instrument, they were furious and Justin gave Theo another guitar he had in storage, promising that music would always be welcome in their home.
With Lyrik in a pickle, could Theo be about to find a huge opportunity on his doorstep… and will he be brave enough to take it?
