Logan (Harley Bonner) was recently shocked to learn that Marilyn (Emily Symons) had filed a malpractice complaint against him with the hospital board. He now faces a tribunal and is concerned that, regardless of the decision, it will remain on his professional record.
In the Diner, Mackenzie (Emily Weir) tries to calm him down, and Irene (Lynne McGranger) hears them. She realizes Marilyn has escalated her out-of-character behavior, but the woman herself emerges and flatly refuses to engage with Logan anytime he attempts to speak with her.
Irene tries to persuade Marilyn that Logan only became involved because she asked for it, but she is unconvinced. Logan begins to be concerned about his future as a doctor, which is exacerbated when Dean (Patrick O’Connor) comes in for a consultation after falling while attempting to get on his surfboard.
Logan analyzes Dean’s pelvic scans and informs him that he is mending normally. When Dean asks when he’ll be able to get back on a board, Logan says he can’t promise he’ll ever be able to surf again.
Dean’s world comes crashing down around him when he realizes that his job and purpose for being could be taken away from him forever.
Dean accuses Logan of making the wrong decision and ruining his life, knowing that Logan overrode Tori’s (Penny McNamee) wish to bring Dean in for an operation at the time of the tragedy…
