Lynne McGranger will share secrets from her past in her upcoming memoir, Acting Up.
The Home and Away actress, 68, told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday that the book will include details about her previous marijuana addiction and an eating disorder.
The actress, who quit using cigarettes and marijuana in 2005, admits she had a serious habit and even worked while high.
‘I have done theatre stuff stoned, but not Home And Away. I didn’t drink you see, so that was my wine,’ she said.
Lynne, who has been playing Irene Roberts on the serial series for almost 28 years, admitted to growing the illicit plant in her backyard.
‘It will be totally scandalous and it was not a bit (of marijuana). I smoked a lot of dope. I just loved it. I would smoke joints,’ she said.
Between the ages of 15 and 28, the actress revealed that she struggled with bulimia.
‘I had a form of bulimia where you binge and instead of vomiting, you take laxatives,’ she said.
‘At the time, it seemed like a decent idea.’ I now realize it was a sort of bulimia, although it had no term at the time.’
Acting Up: Me, Myself & Irene is a ‘warm, humorous, and intimate peek into the life of one of Australia’s living TV icons,’ according to publishers Allen & Unwin.
‘One of Australia’s most well-known TV actresses lifts the lid on life – both on and off-screen – with comedy, honesty, and self-deprecating charm.’
Lynne will cover everything from her childhood to her career in television.
