Ryan Johnson of Home and Away is relishing his nasty role in Summer Bay.
Johnson has been able to sink his teeth into portraying a different type of character on Home and Away after five years as ‘nice guy’ Matt Knight on Australian medical programme Doctor Doctor.
His personality Peter ‘PK’ King is actively involved in Mackenzie Booth’s efforts to salvage her restaurant from bankruptcy by organising illegal gambling nights.
“I think he’s a bit of a sociopath,” the actor told Stuff.
He added: “He sees a chance to enter and cause havoc, and he gets a kick out of it. He treats these individuals like toys, and I believe he basically goes from place to place screwing people off.”
Johnson also addressed fan speculation that his character is an undercover cop tasked with busting illegal gambling operations. “I appreciate the conjecture,” he replied, “but I can neither confirm nor deny it.”
Johnson has previously starred on Home and Away in the character of Peter King.
He previously played Paolo Rosetta in a brief appearance over 10 years ago. “I have a history of playing repeated characters. I did two characters on Rake and two characters on All Saints. This is my second character on Home and Away and it is a lot of fun,” he said.
Meanwhile, Emily Weir, who plays Mackenzie Booth, has described the plot as “very thrilling.”
“It’s got so many different levels dramatically and it really is something that eventually takes over the entire Bay,” she said.
