The actors revisited some dramatic scenes as VJ prepares to attend his mum Leah’s third wedding.
Home and Away stars Ada Nicodemou and Matt Little — who plays her son on the beloved Channel 7 drama — have delighted fans by watching some throwback clips together.
Matt played VJ, the son of Ada’s character Leah Patterson-Baker, on the show, between 2014 and 2017.
He has returned to Summer Bay — to walk his mum down the aisle as she marries Justin Morgan (James Stewart).
Also returning is the much-loved character Tori Morgan, aka Justin’s sister, who is played by Penny McNamee.
In an adorable video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Ada and Matt are sitting on a couch and re-watching scenes from his original time on the show.
The pair are talking over the scenes, providing a fast-paced and funny Gogglebox-style commentary.
“So excited that my on-screen son is returning to Home and Away to walk me down the aisle … again,” Ada captioned the video, referring to the fact that this was her character’s third marriage.
“Thought it was fitting to take a stroll down memory lane.
“Part 2 coming soon.”
“Who’s this guy?” Ada says in the clip, pointing at Matt.
“It’s VJ!! Well, it’s Matt … what are we doing, Matt?”
“Well, we’re gonna watch some of our old scenes,” he grins.
The first scene is from one of Leah’s previous weddings, which the actors then went on to recreate while sitting on the couch.
In another segment, Ada is stunned at how young Matt looks, telling him he looks “like a baby”.
In the scene, one of VJ’s school friends calls his mum a “S**g”, which prompts a punch-up.
“I’d punch him as well, geez, well done VJ!” Ada says, before adding: “No, violence does NOT solve thing”.
“Kids, do not punch people out!” she adds, wagging her finger at the camera.
“But also, kids, don’t call mothers ‘S**gs’.”
Fans adored the hilarious video, saying they couldn’t wait to see Matt/VJ return to Summer Bay.
“Aww VJ it’s amazing to see him back on the show after so long,” one fan wrote.
“The crush I had and still have on this guy,” said anotther.
“This is brilliant! Yay VJ!” a third commented.
In the show, VJ flees Summer Bay after an earlier dramatic kidnapping.
Returning to the show now, as a 31-year-old, was a little “strange” at first, but then he settled in like no time had passed, he told 7Life.
“I thought about what VJ would be like, in 2024, for a long time,” he said.
“But because it’s a story more based around Ada and Jimmy (James Stewart), I think I understood that my character was more of a guide to that, and to bring a bit of the truth to those moments.”
The actor was 21 when he first joined the show, and he now says Ada had been a helpful and generous mentor.
“Ada kind of knew that the relationship between us was quite important, so for her it was key to build trust and a good relationship, between essentially mother and son,” he said.
“She was caring but careful, making sure that I had the right work ethic and also that we had a positive relationship.
“So it was nice to sort of bring back those other stories and characters to sort of be there for the kind of family connection.”
After leaving Home and Away, Matt lived in Germany and the US before returning to Australia to study at university and resume his acting career.
And it seems fans are ready to welcome him back.
“Let’s hope he stays around for a little while at least. It’s so nice to have some of the old favourites return,” one viewer said.
“Great to see VJ back. I’ve missed him,” said another.
On a slightly different note, one fan asked: “Can we just talk about how you both haven’t aged at all??”
