Home and Awayactress Jessica Redmayne has taken to Instagram to ask fans of the show to please stop messaging her thinking that she’s Harper and telling her to stay away from Tane (Ethan Browne) after fans have taken her Home and Away storyline a little too seriously.
Jessica has been playing Harper on the soap since 2023, and Harper’s current storyline revolves around her being pregnant with Tane’s baby. Tane, is so far unaware, as he’s grieving the loss of his ex-wife Felicity Newman, who he was still in love with.
Harper has been a divisive character since her romantic storyline with Tane, with many fans unhappy the two had a one-night stand mainly because the Felicity and Tane fanbase has been so strong over the years and many people wanted them to get back together.
Jessica Redmayne begs Home and Away fans not to message her about Harper
Jessica has now had to take to Instagram to ask fans to cool their jets when it comes to their dislike of Harper.
“Please don’t message me telling me to stay away from Tane or how much you hate Harper,” Jessica wrote. “My name is Jess and I’m an actor. My job is acting, not writing. I shared that promo because I’m proud of my work”.
Home and Away fans rally around Jess
In a Home and Away fan Facebook group, people rallied around Jess in support.
“If people are hating on Jessica, it means she’s done her job well playing Harper. She’s a great actress and I look forward to seeing her, Tane and the baby become a family,” one fan wrote. “At least, I hope they do.”
Many said the online trolling Jessica was receiving was ‘disgusting’ and commended her for standing up for herself.
“It’s acting, not real life. Online bullying is absolutely disgusting, people need to learn the difference between acting and reality!” another passionate fan said. “Good on ya Jess. You tell them, girl. People get so caught up in the show, they think it’s a real-life thing. It just shows how great your performance is as an actor.”
“Harassing Jess (or anyone) for doing a job is disgusting. Do better people,” another person said. “She’s an actor doing her job, saying the lines the writers have given her. Grow up and realise there is a difference between reality and a TV show!”
Jess Redmayne tells fans she’s not pregnant
This isn’t the first time Jess has had to address Home and Away fans taking the show a little too seriously. When Harper’s pregnancy was first revealed, she had to tell fans she was not pregnant in real life.

“So the latest Home and Away promo announces that Harper is pregnant. It’s been brought to my attention that people are wondering if Jessica is pregnant. Now, I know the similarities between me and Margot are uncanny, but no, I’m not pregnant,” she told fans.
“And if you have no idea what any of that means, I’m an actor, I work on Home and Away and my character’s name is Harper – she is pregnant. My name’s Jess, I’m not pregnant and Margot Robbie is pregnant. Just in case you didn’t see that in the news. That was the gag. Trying to be funny.”
