Summer Bay won’t be the same without these two characters.
It looks like Home and Away will be saying goodbye to some fan-favourite actors very soon. The soap tends to have a revolving door, with many cast members constantly departing with new replacements popping up.
Most recently, the show has welcomed Abigail Fowler (Hailey Pinto), sister of Levi Fowler (Tristan Gorey) and Eden Fowler (Stephanie Panozzo). In exchange, Summer Bay will possibly be losing siblings Rose Delaney (Kirsty Marillier) and Xander Delaney (Luke Van Os) shortly.
Kirsty has announced two theatre projects coming up in both Sydney and Melbourne. While actors can request time off from Home and Away to pursue other projects, it’s typically only senior cast members like Lynne McGranger and Georgie Parker who manage to swing this. It’s more likely her theatre commitments hint at her exit from the soap.
She will be starring in Picnic at Hanging Rock alongside Olivia DeJonge at the Sydney Opera House from February 17 to April 5, 2025. Later in the year, she will be starring in a new play she has written called Destiny, from August 18 to September 13 in Melbourne’s Southbank Theatre.
Meanwhile, Luke Van Os has been travelling for the past eight weeks, starting in Asia before heading to Latin America. On one of his Instagram posts from July, Lynne McGranger left a cryptic comment, saying: “Go get em Lukey”. Has he finished filming for good?
It’s believed actors are usually given a three-year contract when they first join the show. Cast members can be offered contract renewals if both producers and the actor want to continue on. Seeing as Kirsty and Luke began filming in roughly October 2021, it would make sense for their time to be wrapping up now.
Home and Away fan theories about Kirsty Marillier and Luke Van Os
Home and Away fans have been busy talking about Kirsty Marillier (Rose Delaney) and Luke Van Os (Xander Delaney) leaving the show on social media, with one saying they were “heartbroken”.
“Anyone got intel about Kirsty Marillier (Rose) wrapping her filming in the next month and role with the show? She’s got shows on with Sydney and Melbourne theatre companies next year, and unlikely she would take time out. I reckon she’s leaving (will be on air until mid-2025),” a fan asked.
“Yes, I’m sure she will go when her contract ends soon and Xander [Luke Van Os] hasn’t been seen filming for months so he’s also gone by the looks of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bree and the band leave next year too,” another agreed.
“Well [Kirsty] doesn’t really have storylines anymore I’ve noticed,” a fan remarked.
“I really like Rose and Xander too,” one other lamented.
