Home and Away actor Emily Weir has bought a possible investment away from her Northern Beaches home with the purchase of a one-bedroom apartment in Rose Bay.
The Eastern Suburbs real estate rumour mill has it that the star paid $680,000 at auction through a buyer’s agent last week to secure the unit.
Dion Markovics and Thomas Condello of Raine & Horne Double Bay/Bondi Beach were behind the sale of the 46sq m apartment and had been guiding $600,000 prior to auction day.
The unit is set to be a money-spinner for the actor, attracting rent of between $680 and $700 per week, a rental yield of more than 5.2 per cent.
And it looks like a savvy buy. The $680,000 purchase price is less than half the median apartment price for Rose Bay, which sits at $1,473,500, down 13.3 per cent over the year.
The pint-sized property is within walking distance of both Rose Bay shops and Bondi Beach and last traded in 2012 for $382,000.
Weir is best known for playing Mackenzie Booth on the Seven soap since 2019 and appeared on the 20th season of Dancing with the Stars last year alongside dancing partner Lyu Masuda, with whom she came runner-up.
The property has visitor parking but no off-street parking for residents.
Marketing for the property describes it as being “fresh and airy with a bright sunny disposition”.
The “cosy” apartment features well-presented interiors with a combined living and dining area with a neat and tidy kitchen.
The bedroom is described as “generous-sized” with an ensuite, the sole bathroom.
