Home and Away’s Emily Weir supported by co-stars as she announces huge career move

Home and Away Mackenzie Booth actress Emily Weir has been supported by her Aussie co-stars as she announced a major project away from the long-running Channel 5 soap

A number of Home and Away actors have jumped to Emily Weir’s defense as she revealed her latest endeavor.

The 32-year-old actress, who made her acting debut in 2019 as Mackenzie Booth, confirmed she would be competing on Channel 7’s Dancing with the Stars.

The stunning brunette is following in the footsteps of Summer Bay icons like Ada Nicodemou, who has played Leah Patterson since 2000, and Kate Ritchie, who intermittently played Sally Fletcher from 1988 to 2013.

Emily informed her 123,000 followers on Instagram when they might anticipate seeing her on screens by posting a photo of herself wearing a glam attire.

She penned: “June 18th is time for dancing queens, getting footloose and jiggy wit it, tune in on @channel7to watch the best cast twist and shout! There will be big hair and big heart.”

Tagging her dance partner, Lyu Masuda, the soap star added: “I love you”.

It wasn’t long before several members of the Home and Away cast flocked to the comments to share their support for their co-star.

This is very thrilling, Ada Nicodemou remarked.

From 2017 to 2020, Sarah Roberts, who played Willow Harris, gushed: “There she issss can’t wait!!!!!”

As Bella Nixon’s most recent appearance, Courtney Ally added: “HOT,” while Stephanie Panozzo, who plays Eden Fowler, said: “Can’t damn wait.”

“Ooooo keen,” wrote Kyle Shilling, who debuted on Home and Away earlier this year as Mali Hudson.

While Kirsty Marillier, who stars as Rose Delaney, commented: “Gonna be screaming for you tomo!!!!”

During Friday’s episode (June 16) of the Channel 5 soap, Mackenzie received the devastating news that Gabe had died of cancer.

Next week as the restaurant owner continues dealing with her grief, she catches the eye of Tane’s cousin Kahu, and it’s not long before things turn steamy.
