EastEnders’ Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati has been at the centre of the BBC soap’s storylines since he arrived in Walford in 2022 as the estranged son of Ravi Gulati
Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati, a character from EastEnders, first made his appearance in Walford in August 2022 as part of the Panesar clan. However, his nearly three-year stint on the Square has been anything but smooth sailing.
The young lad has always resided with his shady father, Ravi Gulati (played by Aaron Thiara), after being separated from his mother, Priya Nandra-Hart (portrayed by Sophie Khan Levy), since infancy.
In October 2023, Nugget fled his home to reunite with his mum, Priya. In the process, he discovered he had a younger sister named Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), whom Priya had kept hidden from Ravi, her former drug dealer.
Last year saw Nugget’s life hanging by a thread after consuming a lethal dose of steroids, resulting in kidney failure and necessitating long-term dialysis.
Despite his health scare and near-death experience, Nugget took an enormous risk by aiding his dangerous grandfather, Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), in his prison escape, reports Plymouth Live.
However, New Year’s Day brought heartbreak for Nugget when his beloved Nish met his end after being shoved off a hotel balcony by Ravi.
Even though Nish was a violent and perilous man who had tried to murder Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and her partner, Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), Nugget found it hard to accept his loss and chastised his family for not attending Nish’s funeral.
It was also unveiled that Nish, a businessman, had left all his assets in trust for Nugget and Avani. So, how old is Nugget in EastEnders?
Off the EastEnders set, Juhaim Rasul Choudhury, who plays Nugget, leads a life quite different from his on-screen persona.
The 20 year old actor hails from the London Borough of Brent and completed his schooling in Slough.
In contrast, his character Nugget is portrayed as a 16 year old student at Walford High.
EastEnders marks Juhaim’s first significant acting gig since he embarked on his professional journey in the industry three years ago.
