Channel 5 boss Ben Frow has revealed the future of Home and Away after Neighbours prepares to air its final episodes at the end of the month after 37 seasons
Home and Away is not facing cancellation anytime soon.
Fears over the future of the Australian soap opera grew after fellow Aussie show Neighbours was axed by Channel 5, forcing it out of production due to money issues.
However, station boss Ben Frow has confirmed that Home and Away will stay on screens.
Mr. Frow clarified that it would continue to operate in the UK as long as its Australian creators kept it functioning.
When asked if Home and Away was in danger, he responded, “No. However, I think it will be intriguing to observe how we use it as we advance.
“There may be another location on the 5 spectrum where it belongs.
According to him, “It’s a life-of-series deal, so it won’t change until the producers decide to terminate it.”
After 37 seasons, Neighbours has been abruptly cancelled, and this was “a business decision.” “because the funds would “be better spent” on UK-produced programmes.
Or I could spend the money on other things, which is what I chose to do, Mr. Frow said. The money from Neighbours would be better spent on UK programming.
Over the weekend, images of Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue returning to Ramsay Street surfaced.
The double-header finale will air on Channel 5 on July 29 at 9:00 p.m. Two specials, Neighbours: What Happened Next and Neighbours: The Stars’ Greatest Hits, will come after it.
Neighbours would be ending, according to a statement from March.
It read: “”We have no choice but to put the show on hold in light of the loss of our important broadcast partner in the UK and despite a thorough search for alternative funding.
“To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours
