Coronation Street fans think they’ve uncovered the reason behind DS Lisa Swain’s bruises, and it has nothing to do with Joel Deering.
Vicky Myers, who plays DS Swain, joined the soap in 2021 and has since been involved in several high-stakes storylines. Currently, she’s part of a murder mystery following the death of Joel Deering, portrayed by Calum Lill. Last month, Joel was written out of the show when his dark past was exposed. Fans will remember he was guilty of grooming and abusing young girls, including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Since Joel’s death, numerous characters have emerged as potential suspects, such as his former fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) and her family, including her father, Ed (Trevor Michael Georges).
However, Lisa’s recent behavior has left viewers questioning her own involvement. Shortly after Joel’s death, she was seen wincing in pain near the cafe, looking visibly unwell. In a flashback during the October 28 episode, she confronts someone in a car on the night of Joel’s murder, attempting to stop them while holding a crowbar. Later, she’s shown in her bathroom, tearfully looking at the many bruises covering her back.
While some fans suspect the bruises could indicate her role in Joel’s death, others believe her daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) might actually be responsible. In a surprising twist, however, viewers have suggested a different theory altogether.
On social media, one fan speculated on a Facebook page that her bruises might be linked to a medical condition. Another viewer echoed the thought, suggesting, “Maybe it’s a medical issue that’s preventing her from living a normal life or pursuing anything with Carla.” Others proposed she could have a deficiency disorder causing the bruising. DS Lisa Swain has quickly become a fan favorite, and many are speculating she may soon be romantically involved with Carla Connor (Alison King) after their recent close interactions.
