Paul Foreman’s death in a heartbreaking episode of Coronation Street next week has been confirmed, following the character’s diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND).
The death of Paul Foreman in next week’s sad episode of Coronation Street has been announced.
Paul was devastated to learn last year that he had motor neurone disease (MND). He eventually notified Billy Mayhew and those close to him about his diagnosis after keeping it a secret for a while. Things have only lately become worse for the cobbler’s favorite, and Paul will sadly pass away next Monday.
Spoilers for next week see a hungover Billy realise he’s lost his phone as he starts panicking as his mobile contains photos and memories of Paul. In a bid to recover his device, Billy sets off to retrace his steps. However, at the same time in a cruel twist of fate, Summer Spellman and Bernie Winter are horrified to discover Paul unresponsive on the sofa, struggling to breathe.
It’s not long until Summer calls an ambulance but realising that Billy has left Paul at the worst possible time, with no way of contacting him, Bernie and Summer do everything they can to keep Paul alive. With the odds against him, will Billy make it in time to say his final goodbye to Paul?
Later in the week, spoilers tragically reveal Paul’s fate as Billy wakes up on the sofa and stares at Paul’s empty wheelchair, where he is hit with the sad reality that life now goes on without Paul. Meanwhile, tensions are high between Paul’s family as they grieve the loss of him. Can they all come together to plan Paul’s funeral?
It comes as Paul actor Peter Ash let slip when he was leaving the ITV soap back in July. Speaking exclusively, he said: “It was amazing to film but tough because it was so emotional and hard but a beautiful episode and it was beautifully written. I’m looking forward to seeing that, it was great to work on. I’ll be sad to go but so grateful to be trusted with that storyline. It’s mixed emotions.”
“People have reacted amazing to it. The response has been fantastic. It’s been tough, it’s been tiring. It’s been a long road but we’re nearly at the end now. I’m so grateful to be part of the storyline and raise awareness,” he added.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
