ITV Coronation Street Viewers Notice ‘Something Off’ as Character Exits in Shocking Scenes

After telling her coworkers she was moving to Norwich, Lisa George’s character Beth Tinker on Coronation Street devastated viewers by leaving the Cobbles.

Viewers of Coronation Street were baffled by the exit of a soap opera icon tonight.

This evening, Lisa George’s character Beth Tinker on the ITV serial opera bid adieu. Policeman Kit threatened her, saying he was fully aware of Craig’s deception to the police in order to protect Faye.

The pressure of it all saw Beth decide she needed to leave Kirk (Andy Whyment) and head down to Norwich, leading to her colleagues throwing her an impromptu leaving do. Lisa has since confirmed she is departing the soap.

However, some fans spotted an issue with Beth’s departure from the Cobbles and they took to Twitter to vent their frustrations over the exit, describing it as “rushed” whilst others said they were puzzled.

One fan wrote: “This Beth exit feels SO rushed…it’s awful #corrie,” whilst a second added: “I’ve never been a fan of Beth but this exit doesn’t sit right with me #Corrie.” A third wrote: “the fact beth’s exit was so well written and now they’re just shoving her off within the space of an episode #Corrie,” as a fourth took to Twitter to share their thoughts, writing: “#Corrie really has wasted Lisa George I always thought Beth had potential if she wasn’t written so one note And we saw that through Sinead’s cancer storyline where Lisa George was brilliant I hope she gets chances elsewhere to show her talent.”

Her actual final scenes will air this Friday, as she bids farewell to the show after over a decade.

Speaking on This Morning today, Lisa spoke about how she would be commemorating her final episode on the soap. She said: “I’ve got a friend from drama school who’s coming over and we’re going to sit and watch it. But yeah, it’s a bit scary!”

Discussing her future plans, she added: “Yeah, let’s see! I’m doing panto at Christmas so I’m very excited about that. It’s Cinderella at the Wyvern Theatre in Swindon. I’m playing the Fairy Godmother.

“So I can’t wait to be Fairy Godmother again, because I did that before at Oldham, years ago. I’ve done Cinderella – my very first panto was in 1997 with Paul Crone, roving reporter at ITV Granada. I’m very excited to go back and do panto.”
