Matt Evans’ Eerie Prank Raises ‘Stranger Danger’ Concerns

West Australia’s Matt Evans has landed in some controversy after a ‘stranger danger’ prank fail.

The 26-year-old actor and musician was attempting to promote his new song in a unique way.

Evans was on The Voice in 2020, and he released his new single “Sold” in April.

To promote the song, he decided to drive around and ask random women if they would like to hop in the car and listen to the new track.

“I’ve never done this before…hopefully someone wants to listen,” he said.

Although the stunt was innocent, it wasn’t particularly well received.

“Hey excuse me, um hi whats your name?” said Evans.

The woman introduced herself as Bella.

“Would you mind, if you want to, come in the car and listen to a new song of mine?” he said.

“We’re just driving around to see if people want to have a listen and see what they think.”

Bella quickly waved and started to walk backwards.

“No, thank you! Good luck, though!” she said.

The young woman then waved and started to run away.

Evans quickly realised the request was strange and said, “Oh, I’m so embarrassed”.

Fans were quick to point out the issue of getting in a random man’s car.

“She didn’t want to sit in your car STRANGER DANGER! 😂” one person wrote.

Another joked, “You should have offered her candy 🍭”

“As soon as you said get in the car, I knew how this would go hahah” a third said.

Others questioned the legitimacy of the promotional content.

“Was she a paid actor and how did she not recognize you?” one person said.

“lol surely this was satire 🤣 Women are smart these days 😜 Awww don’t worry she just didn’t want to get in a car with a stranger 😂” wrote another.

It was later announced in the comment section that the woman was his friend and the situation was a set-up.

“ahaha, I’m just having a laugh. She’s my friend, and it was acting,” Evans responded in the comments.
