Sunrise host Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington will make his acting debut on Seven’s Home and Away this week.
The 45-year-old breakfast TV star will be starring as ‘himself’ in a storyline featuring Catherine Van-Davies, who plays the character Stevie Marlow in the long-running soap.
Matt’s Sunrise co-star Natalie Barr, 56, will also appear in the episode which is set to air on Wednesday at 7pm.
Seven has released behind-the-scenes photos from the filming of the episode, in which Matt can be seen ‘interviewing’ Van-Davies’ character on a beach.
The former Olympian is dressed casually for his ‘dramatic’ debut in brown trousers, sneakers and a white shirt.
In the storyline, Matt is interviewing the ‘A-list’ actress Stevie (Van-Davies) in a ‘live cross’ with Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr.
The father-of-three filmed his scenes for the iconic show on location at Palm Beach, north of Sydney, at the end of last year.
Fans can also look forward to Home and Away stalwart Ray Meagher, who plays iconic Alf Stewart, sharing some screen time with Matt.
As a kid who grew up watching Home and Away, it was all a bit surreal to be in Summer Bay with Alf Stewart,’ Matt told Seven soon after he completed filming his bit last November.
‘What a fun experience. The entire cast and crew were so welcoming and generous with acting tips and advice for this novice.
‘I think this will be one of those things my kids are never going to let me live down!’

Matt’s appearance on the beloved soap adds to a growing list of Sunrise stars who have tried out their acting skills on the show.
In 2007, former Sunrise host David ‘Kochie’ Koch enjoyed a two-line cameo which showed the 67-year-old TV veteran mingling in the bar at the Summer Bay surf club.
Kochie was seen holding a stubby and saying ‘yeah sure’.
And in 2021, Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac appeared as a ‘VIP guest’ at a Summer Bay soiree.
Matt rose rose to fame in 1998 as a marathon sprinter at the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia, and later competed at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
Matt was crowned David Koch’s successor at Sunrise last year after a three-year plan to prepare him for the top job.
The official announcement was made during the breakfast show, four days before Koch filmed his final show.
He shares daughters Sienna, 16, Winnie, 14, and son Lincoln with his wife Jessica, who he married after meeting when they were just 17 years old.
