Neighbours lines up cast exits ahead of show’s final months

As the show enters its final months on the air, fans will say their goodbyes to several beloved characters.

After 37 years on the air, the long-running soap has announced that it would terminate production in June. The last episode will air in August in the United Kingdom, and in September in Australia.

Kyle Canning (Chris Milligan) and Roxy Willis (Zima Anderson) will leave the show in the coming weeks, disappointing fans.

In a recent Isolation Interviews conversation with Hospital Radio Reading, Colette Mann, who played Sheila Canning, announced the pair’s exits.

She announced the news while talking about her own unexpected departure from Neighbours.

Kyle and Roxy’s farewell scenes, according to Digital Spy, will air in mid-April at UK time.

Meanwhile, a Neighbours insider has told Digital Spy that Ned Willis will be leaving the show as well, as actor Ben Hall’s contract has come to an end.

The three cast exits are considered to have been planned and storyline before the announcement that Neighbours would be ending.

Kyle was first played by Chris Milligan in 2008, and he stayed in the role until 2016. In 2019, he returned to the post.

Ben landed the role of Ned in 2016 and became a regular two years later. Zima has been playing Roxy since 2019.

Following the revelation that production on Neighbours will be ending, the show’s producers are now focused on delivering the show a proper goodbye.

More returns will be announced at a later date, but Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) and Shane Ramsay (Peter O’Brien) have already been confirmed to return in the final weeks.

According to a spokeswoman for the production company Fremantle, “We regret to inform you that after over 37 years and nearly 9000 episodes, Neighbours will be canceled in the summer.

“Following the loss of a key broadcast partner in the UK, and despite a search for alternative funding, we currently have no option but to rest the show.

“Everyone at Neighbours has been overwhelmed by the love and support from the audience since the news came out.

“The show has brought a sunny slice of Australia into the homes of millions of viewers around the world launching the careers of dozens of household names along the way.

“But as this chapter of Ramsay Street comes to a close, we promise to do everything we can to give the show the send-off it deserves.”
