When Liz recently shared on General Hospital that her brother Steven Webber had been released from prison, fans were quick to speculate about when he’d return to Port Charles. Well, the wait is almost over! Steven will be back soon, once again portrayed by Scott Reeves.
According to TV Insider, Reeves will reprise his role starting on Thursday, Oct. 24, marking over a decade since he last appeared as Steven in 2013.
“It felt like coming home,” Reeves admitted of returning to the studio. “I got to work the first day and it was early in the morning. It was just so weird driving up to Prospect [Studios] and going through the guard gate. Literally, from the moment I drove in, I was like, ‘Wasn’t it just a week ago that I left and I was pulling out of here?’”
Steven Webber, born to Jeff and Heather in 1977, was portrayed by several child actors over the years. As an adult, Shaun Benson played the role from 2004 to 2005. Scott Reeves, who had previously appeared as Ryan McNeil on The Young & The Restless from 1991 to 2001, took over the role of Steven in 2009.
The last time Steven was seen on screen was back in 2013 when he went to prison for killing a prisoner who was in a coma in order to harvest an organ to save the life of a little girl. “Steven did his time, he’s been out of prison for a few months now, and has been living in Sedona, Arizona, trying to start over and figure out what life is supposed to look like at this point,” Reeves explained. “He lost his medical license, obviously, when he went to prison but he felt justified in it.”
Steven’s return to General Hospital won’t be long-term, but there could be more appearances down the line. “I’d definitely be open to returning because I see so much potential with Steven,” Reeves shared. “Whenever they want me back, I’m ready.”
