Last week on Home and Away, fans were thrown into the middle of the action as Dean Thompson (Patrick O’Connor) enlisted the help of the River Boys to clear his name. In order to protect his family, he placed his relationship with Ziggy Astoni (Sophie Dillman) on the line.
This week in Summer Bay, things get dirty, a fan favorite reaches rock bottom, and we say goodbye to another Summer Bay character.
Will Rose steal her sister’s boyfriend?
Rose Delaney (Kirsty Marillier) was initially seen flirting with Cash Newman when she first appeared on the show (Nicholas Cartwright). Xander Delaney (Luke Van Os) accuses Rose Delaney of having love for Cash in the latest trailer, reminding her that the cop is their sister’s boyfriend.
This will almost certainly cause huge friction in their blossoming sibling bond with Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost), as well as Rose’s professional relationship with fellow cop Cash.
Nicholas clarifies that his character is ‘innocent,’ and that he believes Rose has no affections for Cash. “At first, Cash regards Rose as a member of his family. He adores Jasmine and only wishes to maintain a positive relationship with her family,” he explains.
On social media, viewers have claimed that Cash cheats on Jasmine with Rose, with many speculating that this is why Jasmine leaves Summer Bay.
Cash and Felicity’s relationship is on the mend
After the cop caught Felicity for her role in the illicit gambling network, Cash and his sister Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) have had a rough relationship recently. Tane Parata (Ethan Browne), Felicity’s boyfriend, extends an olive branch to Cash by inviting him to their family BBQ to help mend their strained relationship.
Cash decides to go all out and drinks a little too much before leaving the house and continuing the party elsewhere. Nicholas told Yahoo Lifestyle about how much fun he had playing “fun Cash.”
“It was so much fun to play a light-hearted Cash, he never lets his guard down,” the actor starts.
“His life is so serious and he is always dealing with something big, be it police work or Felicity, so he just doesn’t get much of a chance to relax.”
“He also really can’t handle his alcohol at all,” the actor says, implying how ‘happy’ his character becomes. One of my favourite sequences to shoot was this one. I’m hoping ‘fun Cash’ can return more frequently.”
Mackenzie hits rock bottom
Mackenzie is in a bind this week, with the possibility of criminal charges being brought against her for her involvement in an illegal gambling network and her financial condition looking bleak.
To make matters worse, when Mackenzie goes to the hospital to find her boyfriend, Logan Bennett, she is absolutely taken aback (Harley Bonner). He’s not there, and he’s resigned and departed Summer Bay, which adds to Mackenzie’s emotional distress.
After all that’s occurred to Logan and Mackenzie, it appears like he’s taken the easy way out and joined the army again. Mackenzie can’t seem to get a break as she begins to drink at Salt by herself – is she on the verge of a breakdown?
“Her life and relationships are literally falling before her, and she doesn’t know what her next move should be,” Emily Weir told Yahoo Lifestyle of the stories her character has been going through.
Have Leah and Justin ruined Theo’s relationship
After the mechanic threw his girlfriend under the bus, tensions between Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou) and Justin Morgan (James Stewart) are at an all-time high.
“Leah doesn’t want you staying at our apartment all the time,” Justin said when Chloe Anderson (Sam Barrett) walked in on him naked. Justin ends up in the doghouse, making Theo Poulos (Matt Evans) fearful that his relationship with Chloe would be ruined as a result of this recent setback.
Chloe throws a big Parata-style BBQ in their backyard to welcome Theo into the family, so not all is lost. It’s good to see the family having a good time again, especially since they’re planning to prank Theo as part of a hazing ceremony.
