Can Brooke Blurton save Neighbours from being axed?

Brooke Blurton, the former Bachelorette, is set to return to our television screens, but she’ll be doing so for a show we didn’t expect.

That’s right – Brooke is about to join the cast of Neighbours!

Brooke shared the joyful news on Thursday morning with a snapshot of herself grinning while sitting beneath a glowing Neighbours sign on a greenery-covered wall.

“Looks like some questionable acting with a wine and washing basket can land you a gig on Neighbours ✨ ” she revealed in the caption on Instagram.

“Coming soon to you ? My mum and nan would be very proud! ?”

She’s not the only reality TV celebrity to make the move to Ramsay Street, as fellow Bachelor alum Tim Robarts did the same.

Fans were delighted with the news that Brooke would be returning to their TV screens, commenting “How exciting!” and “Bring on Ramsay Street!

Some fans even stated that they would start watching the show solely to witness Brooke make her acting debut alongside Tim Kano and Zima Anderson, among others.

One fan added: “OH MY GOD!!! Well I’m going to go back to watching Neighbours now.”

Brooke’s addition to the cast comes after weeks of uncertainty over the show’s future, with rumors claiming that Neighbours is on the decline.

Following the announcement that the long-running soap would be canceled in the United Kingdom, rumors began to circulate that Neighbours might be next.

Long-time fans, however, are fighting to keep the show on the air, appealing to Change.org to rescue Ramsay Street as filming in Australia comes to an end.

They started a petition to save the show, which has since gathered over 50,000 signatures, demonstrating that Neighbours still has a devoted following in Australia.

Former stars, including renowned Home And Away and Neighbours actor Lincoln Lewis, have expressed their support for the project.

He uploaded two throwback images from his four-week tenure on Neighbours in 2011 with Neighbours stars Ash Brewer and Stefan Dennis.

“Was sad to hear of the Neighbours news last week. It’s an iconic show that countless people have grown up watching over its 37 years and has provided thousands of jobs for so many within the industry,” he captioned the post.

Lincoln said he had an “awesome” time with the cast and crew, and wished them all the best in the future.

“Whatever happens, almost 4 decades of continuous entertainment is something to be massively congratulated!”

So, will Brooke’s addition to the ensemble help keep the program afloat despite reports that it’s on the verge of being canceled? Only time will tell if this is true.
